We are now accepting competitors for the Lamar Johnson Classic, in Oooltewah TN. THIS EVENT IS FREE TO THE PUBLIC

The Lamar Johnson Classic is an unsanctioned cooking event located at Cambridge Square in Ooltewah, TN On October 19th, 2019. It is a BBQ / Foodsport event consisting of three categories: Steak, Pork Ribs, and The BBQ Blue Plate Special.

The judging process for this event will be done via “comparative method”. Judges will discuss the entries as they all sample the product. The judges used for this event will be some of the best in the sport today. They will include seasoned judges, chefs, and professional cook teams from around the southeast. Many of them have well over 100 events to their credit. The “comparative method” will allow judges to all pull from competitors strong points while not penalizing them because they don’t cook to a specific standard, flavor profile, regional taste, etc.

The Lamar Johnson Classic will be paying out the top three places in each category!

Steak – Cash plus trophy
1st - $300 2nd - $200 3rd - $100

While not limited to, these could include one type of the following: filet, ribeye, sirloin, flank, Tri-tip, round, the strip, or flat iron.
